History of Ducati 907I.E.

Here, I will show you how PASO was born, how it model-changed,
and the future of PASO series.

Birth of PASO series(1987)

PASO series was started from 750PASO, in 1987.
It was designed by Massimo Tamburini as a first sport-tourer
for Ducati. 750PASO had a good and full-covered cowling, which was
so special and novel in those days.
It has air-cooled L-twin 748cc, double oil-cooler and 16inches wheels.
Body colors are red(black in bottom of cowl) and white as special editioin.
For north America, they say blue-metalic was available.
And I got information there was black.

906PASO(1989)

In 1989, 906PASO which had water-cooled engine was released.
They say there are many modifications for engine, bodywork, and finish.
Color was changed to Red/white. And I got information that blue/white version exist.
As a small modification, grab-bar and steering bar-ends were
changed from silver to black. Wheels were changed from black/silver to white.
There are logotypes "Liquid Cooled" on the couling to appeal high performance.

907I.E.(1991)

In 1991, 907I.E. was released. It had electronic injection unit, 17inch-
wheels, Brembo 4-pot brakes, large break disk plate just like floating
system, new swingarm without eccentric chain tension adjuster and silencer.
About cowling, NACA duct added to be comfort. Under head light, air inlet
was abolished. Ducati-logo was enlarged so much. Color was red, but it was
more pinker and deeper one.


Even 90I.E., Comparing '91 model and '92 one, there are small
differences. From '92 model, gold Brembo brakes applied and
seat was modified. Seat for passenger became hollow to improve
passenger's feeling. But I think it spoil 907's form a little.
And silencer's color and form were changed.
And they say there was metalic black version.

ST2(1996)
I heard 907I.E. wasn't entered in lineup of Ducati from 1994,
but new Ducati sport-tourer was exhibited at 1996 IFMA Kern
show named ST2. It has 2 bulbed 944cc L-twin, new frame and
new cowling. Mounting mirrors, Hooks for luggages, I can feel
it was designed so practically.
