FLOOR B-04
Bodywork of Ducati 907 I.E.
Please take your time and watch the photographs.
At first, we will look around about body. It's a left
side of body,
which I think it's most characteristic angle.
All of body is covered by FRP cowling. We couldn't watch engine
except
from front and steps. Character line starts from front-bottom
of cowl
and connected to rear break lamp. Of course, we can't watch frame
either.
However, 907's one is constructed by black square pipes and it's
tasteless.
From 907I.E., 17inch wheels were applied. I don't know which(16"
or 17")
is more better for this body. Sometimes I feel 16" is better.
On the side cowl, radiator covers are detachable. Once, there
were
two oil-cooler installed.
They say PASO series model have bad cooling system
from full-covered
cowling. Sometimes I think it's true. When I follow a truck by
907,
cooling fan starts and water temp goes to 100 C. degree. Even
I ride
at 90km/h(56mph). Even in summer, I don't feel heat of engine.
But sometimes 907 go down before I feel heat. Oh my Buddha...
I took off cowling. Why did I took off it? Please visit
Troubles & Maintenances page. Now you can see the frame construction.
There are underframes under the engine. Beside of head-light,
it's
reserve tank for coolant. Under the seat, there is computer which
controls injection system. But we can't see on this picture.
It's photo from front. You can see a characteristic
opaque front
cowl. NACA duct raises air to avoid airflow to helmet. But,
I can't feel its effect. You should crouch over 140km/h(88mph).
About visibility, it's no problem. You can crouch for you imagine.
Mirrors with flasher are one of character. On another Ducati models
and Cagiva model, we can see same parts. You can't imagine but
mirrors
are round. I wonder about it. They are no problem about visibility.
But head lights of tall-trucks reflect to helmet directly and
when I
use saddle bag on passenger's seat for touring, I can see nothing.
They are problem as a tourer. About the airflow control, it's
hard
on my shoulders, so we should use leather suit for high-speed
cruising.
907 has 60W head light, but it's not bright and I feel uneasiness
Seat cowls are so compact. Following 907I.E., you may
think there are
no tail on 907I.E.. There is small utility space under the seat,
but
you can only put a tool set there. It is a tourer, but there is
no
functions for touring(for example, hook, attachment for side bag
and etc.)
There is helmet holder, but it's useless. I wanted to keep my
SHOEI helmet,
but holder was installed between tail-cowl and silencer, so I
couldn't.
What for?? Color of Silencers were changed from black to silver.
Racy Ducaties have them near seat-cowl. 907I.E. isn't like them, but
it's a tourer so I don't care about it. They sound tasty but silent,
so I was disappointed a little.
On the front of seat cowl, There are two daring air
outlet and
they make upward-to-rear image. these parts jut out to outside,
Sometimes I feel it's hard to step firmly. There is no airflow
to
knees, so it's comfortable in winter time. All of cowls are connected
almost only to the fuel tank and each other. It looks strange.
Fuel tank has 21lit. capacity nominally. Inside of
tank, There is
fuel pump for injection, and complicated pipelines connected pump.
You can see "Huge" Ducati logo!
Seat is thick sufficiently and so comfortable. I don't feel tired
to
ride 907I.E.. Steps position is comfortable, too.
Meter cluster is different from other Ducati bros.,
it contains
touring taste. Speed, Tacho, Fuel, Water Temp., 9 indicators and
analog clock are included into integrated case. It's splendid!!
But back-light isn't bright, so I can't see the meter.
My friends advised me to exchange to high-wattage bulbs.
They say effective even +1 Watt.
